Notes
Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, American Waltham Watch Co. were an American brand specialising in high quality precision timers, chronographs, speedometers and compasses from 1850 to 1957. This timepiece is a particular curiosity as it was undoubtedly a souvenir in an age of flourishing tourism and travel. Called ‘Yan-o-Pah’ (Little Cloud) by the Native Americans in 1850, Vernal Falls is a 317 feet sheer waterfall and, one of Yosemite Valley’s most popular waterfalls due to its ease of access. It is interesting to note that the view of the falls as seen on this pocket watch is near enough unchanged today.
